How do I use a new header for my application?

You can very quickly change the tone and design of a Bambuu application by uploading a new header image to replace the default. You will need to have or create a graphic image (jpg, png or other small size format) of 960x200 pixels size.

Option 1
You can use any decent image editor to create headers for your application quickly and easily, following these steps.

a) First take a photograph of something that you think would be suitable for your application. If it is a musical instrument shop you might want to photograph a piano or another musical instrument of some sort.

Try and use a decent digital camera, make sure there's lots of light (avoid indoor flash if you can, shoot near a bright window if necessary) and compose your shot with care. Use the highest resolution of your camera, and place it on a tripod to avoid any shakes or wobbles.

Once you have a shot you think will be suitable, you'll need an image editing program to cut it to the right shape, add any design flourishes or a store name if you want to make things stylish. We recommend the free Virtual Studio which is a great image editor with lots of features for a very good price (i.e. free!)

Once you have your photo, you will need to crop it to look good as a header, we recommend 960x200 for a standard Bambuu theme header, but you can try different sizes to see what happens.

Don't forget to tweak, try different colours, rotate or generally play around with the image to get different effects. Once you're happy, save the image somewhere safe and get ready to upload it to your Bambuu application. Remember you can do this as many times as you like with your own photos, so don't be shy.

Option 2
XHeader is a free banner and header image maker which comes with a great range of ready designed templates that you can use to spice up your Bambuu site. If you're a bit doubtful about your photographic capabilities, this is one option that could make things easy.

The package comes with a basic 50 designs, and you receive an extra 500 designs once you register for free, which has got to be a bargain. You'll find a wide range of business and personal header designs to use here, although you'll have to make sure they look good expanded out from their original size. At the very least you'll get some great ideas.

Or just use the header image editor they provide to create your own masterpiece. You can play with the text and options for as long as you need, till you get it looking how you want. How's that sound?

Once your header is finished, you can upload it to the Bambuu application using the Theme Customise function on the Pages Tab. Select Master Page, then the Customize Theme option and upload the file you've made for an instant design masterpiece.
